(C. Linnaeus) - Common name Tent Olive - Size range 30mm-135mm - Range: Sea of Cortez to Peru
Collected live by local panga boat hooka divers near Puerto Lobos, Mexico. 7-10 meters depth. Tides range 5 meters / 18 feet near Puerto Lobos, so the divers usually go out during low tides to collect murex and other species for meat.
I did not clean this shell, it was also not live when taken. When running your finger along the outer mouth edge you can feel small chips. There are also parasite bore holes. This is why I am grading this specimen at F. Nice large affordable Oliva Porphyria.
