(J. Lightfoot 1786) - Common name Angled Olive - Size range 32mm-95mm - Range: Sea of Cortez to Peru
Collected live by local tide walkers - octopus hunters in and around Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
Found during low tides / intertidal. Tides range 7 meters / 24 feet at Puerto Penasco. Hand picked for size, color, and bold patterns. I get hundreds a year and this is one of the best.
Removing the snail required freezing, then thawing. Sometimes twice to soften and separate the snail from the shell. There are some micro scratches from the Mexican tide walkers from putting them in bags with sand and other shells, you need a magnifying glass to see them. I am grading this specimen at F++. Nice large affordable Oliva Incrassata.
