(C. Linnaeus) - Common name Tent Olive - Size range 30mm-135mm - Range: Sea of Cortez to Peru
Collected live by local panga boat hooka divers near Puerto Lobos, Mexico. 7-10 meters depth. Tides range 5 meters / 18 feet near Puerto Lobos, so the divers usually go out during low tides to collect murex and other species for meat.
I did not clean this shell, the snail was removed by the local Mexican fisherman, any damage was done by them. As noted in the condition, you run your finger along the lip edge and up near the spiral you can feel and see some very small chips. This is why I am grading this specimen at F/F+. Nice large affordable Oliva Porphyria.
