(C. Linnaeus) - Common name Tent Olive - Size range 30mm-135mm - Range: Sea of Cortez to Peru
Collected live by local panga boat hooka divers near Puerto Lobos, Mexico. 7-10 meters depth. Tides range 5 meters / 18 feet near Puerto Lobos, so the divers usually go out during low tides to collect murex and other species for meat.
I did not clean this shell, the snail was removed by the local Mexican fisherman, No damage apparent. As noted in the condition, very nice, I can see no damage and can run my finger along the outer lip with no snags. This is why I am grading this specimen at F++. Nice large affordable Oliva Porphyria.
