(W.A. Swainson 1823) - Common name Peruvian Conch - Size range 60mm-210mm - Range: Sea of Cortez to Peru
Collected live by local panga boat hooka divers near Puerto Lobos, Mexico. 7-10 meters depth. Tides range 5 meters / 18 feet near Puerto Lobos, so the divers usually go out during low tides to collect murex and other species for meat.
I did not clean this shell, the snail was removed by the local Mexican fisherman, for once I am shocked, as there is no damage. The periostracum is completely intact, little to no buildup. The coloring is superb. I have not seen any L. Peruvianis this nice...ever. This is why I am grading this specimen at F++/GEM.
